Dr. Fovargue

Southwest Schools Community, let's give a warm Welcome to Dr. Keri Fovargue, our New Chief of Staff Officer.   We are thrilled to have you join our community!


Dr. Fovargue has 24 years of experience in urban and suburban school districts, she is known for her leadership and service to students, teachers, families, and communities across Harris County. She has served as a teacher, Assistant and Associate Principal, Director of Curriculum, and Principal. Not only has she spent the past decade as the principal of a highly ranked and sought-after elementary school, but she also held the position of a Lead Principal where she coached, mentored, and supervised elementary, middle, and high school principals, and instructional programming on various campuses in Houston ISD.

 

Dr. Fovargue earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and English and a Master of Public Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. Additionally, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy with a Specialization in Leadership in Education from Capella University. Her post-doctoral studies led her to Rice University where she became recognized as a Rice Fellow in the Jones School of Business Educational Entrepreneurship Program (REEP). She is well versed in evaluating administrators and teachers, creating systems leading to student growth and increasing the effectiveness of teachers and principals, implementing researched best practices, and problem-solving with change agents. Dr. Fovargue is the recipient of many accolades and is recognized for her contributions in education including The Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award, Texas Honor Roll, School Choice Leadership Award, 10/10Great Schools Rating, Ranks in the 99th percentile in Houston & Texas’ Top Performing Schools, Earned TEA “A” with distinctions, Ranked A+ School, Top 5 Elementary for Academic Growth in Reading and Math, Principal of the Year Finalist, and Leadership in Excellence Award.
